When choosing between
gravel or
concrete for your commercial parking lot, many contractors and construction companies look at this choice like a no-brainer. Concrete is the better option all around but many people still don’t know all of the great things that come with this choice. That’s why we are here! At Frison Construction, our team is well-versed in concrete parking lot installs and is more than prepared to provide you with all of the knowledge needed to make this long-term decision.
Parking lots are often overlooked when designing a new building but underestimating the value of a great parking lot could be a mistake. From potential clients and customers, to employees and partners, your parking lot is essentially the first impression your commercial property makes. While many owners look for the quick and cheap option that comes with gravel, a smart business owner will think more long-term and choose concrete for their lot. Some benefits that come with choosing concrete for your parking lot install are as follows.
Concrete is stronger and more durable than gravel.
Concrete lasts longer.
Concrete is more appealing to the eye.
Concrete is better for the environment, as the components of concrete are natural and chemical-free.
Concrete is very low maintenance, meaning once you install it, you will likely not have to touch it again for a long time.
While concrete installation may look easy, when it comes to a huge investment like a parking lot, it’s always best to trust experienced contractors to do the job right and to use the right materials. At Frison Construction, we can do both of these things. We work diligently to properly install concrete and we tend to use High Early mix concrete to get the parking lot done quicker so it can be driven on sooner. We will never cut corners and will ensure that when we are finished, you won’t have to worry about maintenance for years to come. For install, we follow a few basic steps:
First, we will come out to your property, access the area, and give you an estimate based on if the conditions are ideal for pouring concrete.
Second, our team will build the shape in which the concrete will be poured, typically a square.
Third, we will begin pouring the concrete and then level it to assist with flattening.
Fourth, once all of the smoothing and flattening has been completed, we wait a few hours for it to dry.
Finally, your parking lot is finished, looks beautiful, and is ready for use!
While concrete parking lots might not be as popular as gravel, trust us, when you choose concrete you will never regret it. It will not only make your commercial property stand out, it will also save you a lot of money down the road; who doesn't want that? At Frison Construction, our experienced team will take your project into our capable hands and will work with you to create a functional and appealing concrete parking lot. We've answered some frequently asked concrete parking lot installation questions.
High Early concrete is our preferred concrete as it is much stronger and gets the job done quicker than standard concrete.
For larger installs, we recommend waiting at least a day before driving on your freshly poured parking lot as our High Energy concrete dries quickly. This is still much less time than those who opt to use standard concrete and will have to wait up to 5 days.
Inspections will only be required if we pour concrete on sidewalks or driveways that connect to the city.
The best place to start when it comes to choosing to install a concrete parking lot is first going to your local government building and getting any permits that may be required before the project begins. Once all required permits are in your possession, your next step is to fill out our form and describe your project to us so we can begin!
Having the correct drainage in a concrete parking lot is extremely important. If it is not done right the first time, entire parts of the parking lot will have to be completely removed in order to make necessary repairs. The last thing any commercial property owner needs is for flooding to occur in or outside their building due to poor drainage.
